MICHAEL VAN DER HAM
Michael Van der Ham took place in the NewGen Topshop space.
The show was preceded by a gorgeous lunch. If I had know, I would have arrived with more than 5 minutes to spare. As always, sorbets, drinks and champagne were served.
The crowd was very stylish..it took masses of effort not to fly around photographing everybody
The following photos are a little..how would we phrase this...in motion. But just imagine you're on the front seat of a white aston martin. That always makes everything better
A lot of knitwear, a lot of hand-finished appliques, mixture of textiles and colliding shapes. Hair is so Veronica Lake. The colour palette is very much autumnal again, and there is a lot of rust and orange.
I really loved the Swarovski-adorned makeup, it shimmered beautifully.
Everyone's eyes were on the shoes, custom designed for the show by Christian Loboutin. Is it me or were they really quite similar to what we've been seeing lately from Miu Miu? I don't generally like the style of Loboutin, but I really, really like these. They're intense, baroque.
I came back to the Somerset House for the next shows. I ate some coconut cake
I met a very stylish girl
And a Harry Potter crew
Then I dropped by the Handpicked Media lounge which was wonderful, beautifully presented in the One Aldwych. They had a Ted Baker event that day, where you could go through their new collection/try it on/even borrow it...I was more interested in champagne and chatting with bloggers, however. It was such a great idea to have this suite right next to the Somerset House, it was a great place to chill.
Clean, sharp, hard-edge tailoring in a sportswear aesthetique. This is not normally my preference, and there is little chance that I would wear anything like this, however I really enjoyed it. I think the hair made it. I have seen so many blunt cuts this season, safe to say they are everywhere.
The shoes were designed by Terry de Havilland, and although very beautiful they appeared to be lose; all of the models were stumbling. This one lost her shoe. I wish I had a different photo to post but the poor girl is stumbling in all of them, and I really love this outfit/girl.
Favourite outfit: Blunt blonde hair over severe mannish leather trench. Hell to the YES
Did I mention how out of this world the model is? Alien. I love her.
A rigorously edited color palette continues. There was a lot of talk about the military belts and cuffs, of which...I can't see many? In my photos at least. Love this next one
And that's it x
