Winter can be discouraging when the weather turns unpleasant, but I'm trying to remind myself that cold weather does offer an adequate climate for many fabulous items.
Let's commence with some warm Muks with a wedge. Total viking heroine.
Alternatively, a sheepskin coat is a wardrobe staple. It's classic and it balances out all those "trend" items you're wearing. Mine is by Loewe and I've had it since my teens, it was my first "big girl" coat that I got for my first job.
A "trendy" piece is the sheepskin aviator jacket, like this one by Acne. Stunning and works best when paired with simple items.
Leather masks are also something you wanna be wearing now.
Before I forget: LEATHER PANTS. There was never anything as attractive and practical. It's also a good time to wear a silk scarf tied tightly around your neck in lieu of a turtleneck. Works well under big wool scarfs and along with any black clothing. (DSquared biker leggings. Givenchy scarf)
Take this opportunity to wear your glamorous fur collars
And your scarf-fur hybrids. I love these so much they make me fly (Etro scarf)
You know what else makes me levitate? Long black gloves. They are GREAT for those 3/4 sleeve fur jackets. (Sermoneta gloves, Yves Salomon cropped jacket)
And you can take the glove concept as far as you want. Mink mitten with splashes of cobalt? Fabulous with a dress or a coat with skinny sleeves.
On your head, a luxe gangster fedora. Or on your boobs, as you deem appropriate. (Emilio Pucci hat)
As for evening...I personally love Winter evening options. Velvet jackets, anyone? (Armani Collezioni swarovksi jacket). YES YES YES
Full-coverage silk cocktail dress, that you can't wear after March (Yves Saint Laurent)
A very elegant printed brocade evening blazer (Stella McCartney)
Did it give you some ideas? Savour the moment. The low temperatures are particularly good for that 30s sophistication that I like so much, think Orient Express, and for glam rock a la late Elvis, Gary Glitter and Bowie. Capes, long coats, hats...It takes a bit more thinking but it can be wonderful.
