Slowly falling where we belong. I had to get here sooner or later; Barbarella is after all, named after me. Or the other way round. Whatever. We're the same person.
So here I am all made up like the Goddess of ecstasy saving the world one guitar at a time. The comic character is said to be modelled after actress Brigitte Bardot, so what we have here, essentially, a straight on sixties makeup. A modern take of course. Fresh skin, smudged eyes, no lashes.
Skincare
Skinceuticals Retexturing Activator, Clarins Liquid Bronze Self Tanner
Base
Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua #20. This is my favourite foundation for a naturally flawless finish; it also looks fantastic in pictures. It feels extremely light, looks like skin, and stays on well. It's also keeping my skin in brilliant condition. I highly rate this.
Eyes
I'm using YSL Waterproof Eye Pencil in Black all around the eye: Top, bottom, inner rim right from the tearduct and all around it, then extending the eye out. On the top lid, I'm also lining with YSL L'Eyeliner Noir and winging that. Everything is smudged with a small pencil brush.
Then I'm using Laura Mercier Plum Smoke eyeshadow on the crease, and Fresco on the lid and lower lid. Mixing both until I get to the intensity I want. The eyes are everything in this look.
Mascara is Max Factor 2000 Calorie in Black
Bronzer
NARS Laguna, the way I would use a bronzer (temples, cheeks, chin, nose..) lightly applied
Lips
MAC Honeylove and then lined with Giorgio Armani Lip Pencil #2
This is a very effective face for night because the eyes are striking, and all of the products I mention hold up well. If you have light eyes like me, you wanna make sure you smudge it and blend the black with other dark eyeshadows, otherwise it can look like death if you only got black around the rim and then icy blue inside.
You can easily transform this into a day makeup if you only remove the black liner. I do that variation a lot too. It is quite vampiric and quite sexy.
