A note on blogs and some favourites

Blogs are one of my favourite things to read. I think the reason why they are so attractive, at least to me, is because, yes, you can find information from people who specialize on a niche, but also they are personal. They are relatable, and you get opinions and discussions. I'm very argumentative so I enjoy as many theories and thoughts as I can get. Blogs are deeply philosophical.

There's also a huge female community (it's probably the largest blog community?) because let's face it, out of blogs there isn't much choice. TV and Magazines are both so PC (booooring) and firm-financed that they all say the same thing, the PR tune gets old, and you go back to looking at "indie" blogs to get any excitement.

Because of this, I like my blogs to be real, real indie. For someone to document the company events she's going to, or advertise products, I might aswell pick up a Glamour. There's plenty of girls who take modelling photos with clothes that are a) completely unwearable b) not particularly original, fresh or interesting. For fashion photos, I'll take a Vogue Italia any day. I don't want that, I think the strength of a blog lies in its personality, I want the concepts, the ideas, the psychology behind it, the reasoning of a person, the thinking. Often I don't even care what she's talking about as long as her photos are fun or her writing style is amusing. (LondonLibertyGirl, anyone?). I can't think off the top of my head of any blogger who's wardrobe I would wear or who's opinions I share completely, but it's not about that- I enjoy people for their spirit  (ManRepeller, for example). I don't read blogs to buy what anybody else is buying (although it does happen! YummyMummy's beauty blog, BuynowBloglater….).

Speaking of magazines and blogs, with the blog boom a lot of excellent journalists and editors have turned into blogging (still talking about "female community" blogs here) and Intothegloss is a fabulous example, as professional as any, in a good way (clear interface, has the contacts, intelligent, new information). One that can keep me hooked on it for hours. I enjoy the candid celeb photos in whowhatweardaily, but their approach is so corporate and their taste so commercial, I don't get much juice out of it.

Some of my favourites are the fragrance sites, those girls so evocative. It's a sheer pleasure to read what they're saying, and I have no clue where to find such information out of the Internet. I couldn't for a moment write like that or identify the imagery in a scent in such detail, but I can appreciate it. (nstperfume, perfumeshrine, boisdejasmine…)

Feel free to list your own in this post, or give anyone any suggestions. I'm always surprised by the great bloggers who read me. I'm very spoilt.
